Flame and Wind

Just happen to read a short story by one very eminent Marathi write V. S. Khandekar. Trying to reproduce it as much as I remember and the way I could.

The Wind was playing with flame, He was happy and he was being naughty.
The Flame tries to put sense to the Wind. The Flame says she is not alone. She needs to show light to the travelers; without her they will not be able to find the way around. They will have a lot of trouble. Otherwise she would not have mind, wind doing anything to her…

Wind gets angry…

He goes away…to a far away land…he plays with bushes and gushes through the mountains. He drives fast fast fastest and slow slow slowest…He sees beautiful sceneries and plays with water…

He tries every bit to forget all about her… or so he thinks…

But he just could not forget her. Tired of his own efforts to forget her, he comes back…

He tries to find out The Flame and she is no where to be found…

And then he hears whispers and murmurs for light by a troubled traveler…who has fallen down due to a rock in the path in total darkness of the night….
